Parents at Loatlands School (PALS) is a voluntary organisation that supports the school in a variety of ways, and is always on the lookout for new members! Principally set up to fundraise for the school, PALS also encourages children to take part in their local community through events such as the Desborough Carnival, Christmas Tree Festival, Barrows n Baskets and the Millennium Green.
PALS also organises events within the school such as Disco’s, Movie Clubs and Fashion Shows and funds are raised through schemes such as recycling (ink cartridges, clothes, shoes, etc;), community events, and shopping days for Mothers and Fathers day gifts.
Funds raised over the years have been used to support the school in a variety of ways e.g;
- Staging, skirts and music system in the school hall
- Free crèche at the Christmas school plays
- Topping up funds towards school trips for all years in order to keep costs to parents at a minimum.
The largest project PALS has undertaken is the transformation of an area of the playground into a conservation area / outdoor classroom. This area includes a pond, shed, growing beds for all years (Nursery to Year 6), picnic area, seating and a tree house / den.
The PALS committee consists of a great group of people who work with the school to put some fun into fundraising. They give up their free time to organise events for all the family throughout the year.
If you would like further information about the work that the members of PALS do, or would like to join in, please contact Chairperson Denise Read on 01536 763809. Alternatively you can call into the school office for a list of other members.
